Can this little mini piece be placed in a pocket? Does the large base have to be near the mini device in order to operate and record or turn on? How far or what is the max distance can the two pieces be apart from each other in order to work?

Yes, you can place this portable voice recorder in your pocket. It is really slim and small. Just be aware that some garments may be too thick and you also want to make sure to place it near the opening of the pocket and secure it in place to reduce microphone friction. There is no base for it or other accessories that need to be attached during recording. There is a single switch that easily turns it on and off.
Will this connect to my android to be able to get the data

battery life says 22 hours. is that for continuous recording or voice activated as well? if the former, what's the batter life for voice activated recording?
