A DVR (Digital Video Recorder) is similar to a VCR except instead of recording to the video and audio data to a tape, it records it to a computer hard drive which is built into a DVR. The hard drives can store from days to months of video, depending on the settings that you choose to record with.
Unlike a VCR the DVR has many advanced features and can be viewed remotely across the internet from your PC. This functionality allows business owners and homeowners the ability to freely move from their headquarters to other places without ever loosing the ability to know what is going on. For homeowners DVRs offer the ability to keep an eye on a vacation house or to check on the children while they are at work.
Keep in mind that there are many types of DVRs and not all DVRs are the same. Functionality and features are the main difference, but the purposes for which a DVR is manufactured will also make a difference. The digital recorders that we offer are designed for security and surveillance applications, they are not to be confused with the TiVo or others alike that are also known as “DVR's.” They are in no way related.
